At Couvre Porte by Birgu's main gate, the Malta at War Museum tells the story of the islands in the Second World War through objects, film and uniforms. The visit continues underground into a large network of air-raid shelters dug by hand during the bombing.
The shelters have steps and low ceilings; pushchairs are best left outside.
